    Hi all…first post here.

I am wondering if any of the cast salaries were ever published for "JAWS"? Haven't been able to find anything online…

    Thanks if anyone knows…

This is all I can find:

Residents were paid $64 to scream and run across the beach as extras.

Despite the film's mammoth box-office returns, Robert Shaw didn't earn a penny out of it. He was facing heat from the IRS for tax evasion, and due to working in countries as diverse as the US, Canada and Ireland, he had to forgo his salary to make amends.

That's just not right. If that is true, just shows you how greedy Hollywood is. I do know Robert Shaw talked bad about the movie, until he saw the mechanical sharks. After he saw them, he got excited about the whole thing.
It's a shame he didn't have a contract for a percentage of the gross, a damn shame. He did so much to contibute to that movies success.

I saw on tv years again in a doc about "Jaws" that the studio offered percentages in return for a lower wage.
It said Roy Scheider took this deal, but Richard Dreyfuss wouldn't do it and wanted his proper wage. After the film made millions and millions, Dreyfuss said he regretted his decision.

After some digging, in an article about JAWS 2, it was mentioned that Scheider was paid 400,000 for the sequel, and said this was "four times as much" as what he made on the original…hmmm….
