He was a nearly broke waiter on Martha's Vineyard in 1974, but Kevin Pike had the good fortune to meet Joe Alves and find himself working on special effects for what would become the greatest box office hit of all time (until it was surpassed at least). He later worked on films such as Back to the Future, Return of the Jedi, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Ed Wood, and Fight Club.
