Am I the only one who truly loves Jaws 4 besides James Mercuri?
I thought the acting, storyline, and climax was GREAT!
I also liked all of the Jaws sequels more than the original!JAWS 4 FOREVER!
June 5, 2010 at 12:22 pm #7840I don't know anyone who likes this movie. Certainly not more than the original. After Michael Caine gets attacked on the plane and swims to the boat, he climbs on Neptune's Folly and he's not even WET!! The shark roars for christ's sake! What about when the shark chases Michael through the sunken boat? The shark is wiggling through the wreckage- barely squeaking through- where are his pectoral fins?? Seriously! What is the shark made of? It looks like a Muppet! Could it move any slower? It works so poorly that the attacks are all in slow motion! The only cool thing about JAWS IV is that Mrs Kintner and that towns woman (who's name escapes me at the moment, "Are you going to closde the beaches?") are both in it. That was cool. The movie was not. Oh well, enjoy it!!
June 5, 2010 at 8:39 pm #7841what ? You like all the sequels better than the original ? How is that possible ? well ..i guess anything is possible .. i had a suitemate in college who thought the original Rocky was the worst of the first 4 Rocky movies (5 hadn't been made yet when he said this) .. in his opinion Rocky 4 was clearly the best .. and Rocky 1 was clearly the worst … ha, ha.. i kid you not
June 5, 2010 at 9:05 pm #7842wow, lol, i might be at a loss for words here. but i will try. i find Jaws 4 one of those movies that i will never buy, but when it is on tv, i will always watch it, but i only watch it to see just how bad a movie can be made. like really, a shark that roars. MVP's horrible accent. and probably the worst looking shark in the history of movies. also, the acting is atrocious.
i like the quote that Michael Caine had, when asked what it was like to be in such a horrible movie, and he said, "to this day i still have not seen the movie and i never will, all i do know is that it bought this wonderful house".
June 6, 2010 at 6:32 am #7843I cannot like them more than the original, but if it's any consolation, I like TR better than J3D. But that's sort of like saying "I like toothaches more than rectal bleeding."
June 6, 2010 at 11:39 am #7844I think that Jaws 4-eva looks cooler than JAWS 4 FOREVER.
Thats just my opinion.
June 12, 2010 at 8:53 am #7845Hoagie gets onto the boat dry because they were in a tank with water dyed blue for part of the climax, and if he got wet he would turn BLUE.
June 19, 2010 at 8:47 am #7846I just remember thinking Karen Young was an insufferable bitch and badly wanting to see her character die…
…followed by Lance and Mario each popping a Corona, toasting, and yelling down to the shark, "OK now we're even!"
"C'mon, Mom we're all moving to Kansas." THE END.
June 19, 2010 at 7:30 pm #7847Movies are made to be enjoyed and if the sequels are what brings you pleasure then that's all that matters. I find pleasure in all 4 films, even Jaws The Revenge(about 15% of the film).

June 21, 2010 at 1:57 am #7848Things I would have done to improve "Jaws The Revenge"
(This is just a personal observation, with all due respect to everyone involved in making the film.)Why hire Michael Caine, (A leading actor) and give him a supporting role? He should have been a relative of Quint coming to collect an inheritance and thrusted into the spot of hunting down the shark.
The beginning of the film was obviously shot on the back lot. The night water scene was to calm for the ocean. It felt like a tank scene for me. The town did not resemble Martha Vineyards in any degree. That was the charm and atmosphere of the first two films.
They killed Sean for dramatic effect, but he was one of the most likeable characters throughout the series. If the Brody family keep having shark problems, don't you think they would have moved to the mountains of Tennessee instead of the Bahamas? Why keep living by the water?
Lance Guest does not resemble Roy Schieder or Lorainne Gary in any form. Nor does he resemble any of the other actors who played Michael. If anything, with his beard he looks a lot like Richard Dreyfuss. His character showed no mourning for the death of his brother.
Why shoot any of the film on the back lot of Universal? It made the film look cheap. If they couldn't go or use Martha Vineyards? Then why not go to Navarre Beach like they did for Jaws 2? If they could afford to shoot in the Bahamas, couldn't they afford Martha Vineyards or Navarre Beach?
If the shark was suppose to be hunting down the family? It would of made more sense to make the film more violent, sinister, or diabolical. But by 1987 people understood sharks are primal and not evil.
Like Jaws 3D, why did divers need to speak while underwater?
Also like Jaws 3D, none of the victims seem to struggle from the attack. Like the victims in the first two films.
June 21, 2010 at 2:20 am #7849Oh and another thing. Why set the timing of the film around Christmas? I associate the series with Summer. Maybe they should of released the film in the winter, since it went against the principle of it's predecessors.
July 23, 2011 at 2:28 am #9744You sir,are the wisest Jaws fan I know…no kidding.
August 6, 2011 at 2:59 pm #9804I view Jaws as the best shark movie ever made.
I like Jaws 2 because Roy Scheider and more of the original cast is in it.
I like watching Jaws 3 because its so bad its funny.
Jaws 4, while it does have Lorraine Gary and a shark. (And reminders of The Chief-Martin Brody)August 9, 2011 at 3:17 pm #9821i love the look of the film. Having said that. The shark exploding for no reason at all at the end was so stupid it’s unbelievable. Also the fact that the shark roared….now that was a touch of brilliance.
August 9, 2011 at 3:22 pm #9822Furthermore i must agree with the shark chase scene in the ship (the shark was all wiggly and foam latex), the shark jumping twice ( i understand whites can breach but not without a swimming start) i also love the chomping action the shark performs, now am i to believe special effects actually got worse since the 70′s?
having said all that, i still watch it when it’s on.
August 9, 2011 at 3:24 pm #9823Holy crap i just remembered! at the end look at the horizon that is clearly a mat painted concrete wall behind everyone.
September 20, 2011 at 2:03 pm #10048Ha ha oh how my opinion has changed since I posted this. Now this is how I see it: Jaws is the best, Jaws 2 is good, 3 is awful, and 4 is okay. I was a year younger, and even though that doesn’t sound like a lot of time, your views can really change in that time period
