Jaws Mythos

You know I've wanted to see a new Jaws film for a long time, but one area I always found sorely lacking (that I thought should've been present) in the sequels was a total lack of exploring the character of the Shark and any kind of origins or mythos behind it.

When Jaws was first released it was based on sensationalized misunderstandings at the time about sharks. As we learned more they lost their image as the cold-blooded killers they were depicted as on the silver screen. Yet in every Jaws Sequel (with the exception of The Revenge, would've liked that movie a whole lot more if they hadn't cut the shark out of most of it :-/) they still act as if Great White sharks naturally do what was being done.

I think the biggest opportunity here would be to take the fact that Jaws is so completely not like any normal shark and build up an actual suspense and mystery around the shark more as an a character instead of just a murder instrument. Why does he eat mostly humans? How does he manage to sustain himself on such a small energy-to-weight ratio offered by such a diet? Why is he so big compared to every other recorded great white? Why is the head so obviously misshapen for a great white?

After all, the shape of his head is perfect for consuming large prey but because of the lack of a streamlined shape in the head I'm sure top swimming speed would suffer. Is it just me or does anyone else also wish for a new film to explore and, maybe even answer some of these questions?
