Now i know this is a touchy subject due to the first iconic and surprising original. But does anyone feel anyone could make an updated version that is more faithful to the book?

I know it must be sacrilege to even say such a thing being such great movies have been destroyed by Horrible People (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Etc..)

I think if a really good script was evolved and a serious budget and producer were included. I think with today’s technology and special effects (less cgi) i think it could look amazing.

Now for those of you who haven’t read the book, there’s A LOT more to it than what we see in the film. It’s just a pipe dream really. Especially in this day were you could really scare people with really manufacturing a shark attack.

    Just day dreaming.

Tweentee8 The only way I would want a Jaws remake is if the emphasis was on acting and script. But you and I both know that those would take a back seat to CGI effects. Sure the shark would seem more life like and real but without intelligent characters with whom we could indentify what would be the point. I do think a good remake could be done but I have absolutely no faith that anyone in Hollywood would make it a good movie. I think a couple of things would have to be in place for it to be good .First I think the setting should be a small northeast coastal town or island in the 70s as it was in the book and the movie. If the film was set in present day I think the threat of a shark would loose some of its credibility due to all the technology and knowledge we have today..Brody could just call for help on a cell phone or via the internet etc. Also I think the small town or island setting gives the film a sense of isolation. My fear is though that todays filmakers would want to try to appeal to as many young viewers as possible. As a result the film would probably be set in present day Miami beach. The cast would include many teens and twentysomething “Movie Stars” rather than good actors and their woul be be a pathetic amount of CGI and probably more than one shark.
