I have probably seen Jaws 60 or 70 times in my life (conservative estimate) and I never had noticed a peice of information until my last viewing. We all know that Martha's Vineyard was used as the fictional Amity Island- yet I never knew where Amity was specifically located or that the movie distinctly seperated Amity from Martha's Vineyard. In fact, the movie makes it clear that Amity is an Island right near both Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Kudos to anyone who knows the scene in Jaws in which Amity is described as one of three Islands off of Cape Cod.

Hey Bss1980 I'm not sure what specific scene you refer to. The only one that I can think of that even mentions Cape Cod is the ferry scene in which the mayor and Brody are on the ferry that takes cars across to chappaquidick [Which is where that ferry really goes to and comes from] and says to the chief "If people can't swim here the'll be glad to swim off the beaches of Cape Cod Long Island the Hamptons but I doubt this is the scene to which you refer. Incidentally in the book Jaws Amity was not even an island but a fictional town on Long Island NY.Perhaps although I don't know this for sure it was inspired from Amityville which is a real town on Long island.
