One of the most enjoyable interview sessions we had was with writer/director Kevin Smith, especially for me since I have always been a fan of his films. I actually used to frequent the Minnesota mall (Eden Prairie Center) where Kevin filmed Mallrats. As most people know, Kevin is a huge JAWS fan himself, with many homages to JAWS in his films, including bits in Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Mallrats. It took us several failed attempts to set up the interview with Kevin due to his busy schedule but we were finally able to lock him down and it went as well as we could have hoped for. Kevin was a blast to hang out with; friendly, personable and hilarious. He signed some swag for us (purchased at his store Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash, of course), and gave us a few hours of his busy schedule. We can't thank him enough, as his appearing in the doc was a high priority for us. It wouldn't have been right to have a documentary about JAWS and not include Kevin Smith.
